What is Plastic Surgery?
Plastic Surgery is a specialty of medicine that is
performed for patients who desire to enhance their appearance.
The word plastic originates form the Greek word plastikos
and means "molding" or "giving form".
It does not refer to the synthetic materials that are occasionally
used.
Plastic cosmetic surgery is performed to reshape normal structures
of the body in order to improve the patient's appearance and
self esteem. This includes treatment of the face and body.
A few examples are: eyelid and nose enhancement, facelifts,
breast surgery, liposuction and "tummy tucks". The
use of lasers provides another treatment method to achieve
facial rejuvenation. |
